Project updates

Construction is complete and a ribbon cutting was held on Aug. 23, 2022 for the expanded office, manufacturing and warehouse building. The Bundt Café will open at a later date.

Project background

Dalquist Properties LLC received approval for two expansion projects at the Nordic Ware campus at 5005 Hwy. 7.

  • Building 8: 21,853-square-foot addition to the manufacturing warehouse, constructing a second loading dock, a new parking lot on the north side of the property and landscaping improvements.
  • Building 9: 45,000-square-foot addition to the warehouse and loading dock operations on the east side of the campus. The project includes a small café with an outdoor patio on the south side of the property facing the regional trail.

The applicant received city approval for two amendments to an existing special permit on the site. The applicant also received approval for a utility easement vacation and encroachment agreement, and a zoning text amendment to modify the conditions required of food service in the IG General Industrial zoning district for the proposed café.

Project meetings

  • Oct. 21, 2020 – planning commission held a public hearing on the building 8 project application and recommended approval of the amendment to the special permit
  • Nov. 16, 2020 – city council held a first reading on the ordinance vacating a portion of the utility easement and creating a new portion of utility easement. Council also voted to approve the resolution adding an amendment to the special permit in order to allow the building 8 expansion and site improvements.
  • Dec. 7, 2020 – city council held a second reading of the ordinance vacating a portion of the utility easement
  • Feb. 11, 2021 – applicant held a virtual neighborhood meeting for the building 9 expansion project (view meeting recording)
  • Feb. 24, 2021 – planning commission held a public hearing and recommended approval of the building 9 project to city council (view meeting recording)
  • April 5, 2021 – city council took the following actions:
    • Held a public hearing on the easement vacation request
    • Held first readings of the ordinances for the easement vacation and the zoning text amendment
    • Approved the amendment to the special permit
  • April 19, 2021 – city council held second readings of the ordinances for the easement vacation and the zoning text amendment.
