Project background
The project proposes the redevelopment of two houses located at 6013 and 6019 Cedar Lake Road and the construction of a 36-unit, three-story apartment building with one level of below-grade parking.
The city council approved the following applications:
- Rezoning the two properties from R-3 two-family residence to R-4 multiple-family residence.
- Preliminary and final plat combining the two properties into one property.
- Conditional use permit to construct a multiple-family residence.
Public meetings
- Jan. 30, 2024 – Neighborhood meeting was conducted. Approximately 18 people signed in at the meeting.
- Feb. 7, 2024 – Planning commission conducted a public hearing. People spoke about the project. The planning commission voted 5-1 to recommend the city council approve the rezoning, plat and conditional use permit applications.
- Feb. 20, 2024 – City council voted to approve the rezoning, preliminary/final plat, and the conditional use permit. They set the 2nd reading of the rezoning for March 18, 2024.
- March 18, 2024 - second reading of the rezoning was approved by the city council.
