Construction work on the Wooddale Avenue bridge over Highway 7 will begin Monday, July 23, 2018. Significant changes to the traffic operations are expected in the construction zone.
Starting July 23, the following roads will be closed:
- Highway 7 eastbound on ramp
- Highway 7 westbound off ramp
- Walker Street at Wooddale Avenue
Please follow the posted detours for the closed ramps. View the ramp and road closures and detours map.
In addition to the closures, there will be other traffic control changes within the construction zone starting July 23.
- Wooddale Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction across the bridge.
- Temporary “all-way” stop signs will be installed at the ramp entrances and exits, as well as at the intersection of Wooddale Avenue and Highway 7 Service Road. Please continue to yield to pedestrians and bicyclists traveling the Cedar Lake Regional Trail.
- The width of the outside shoulders on Highway 7 under the Wooddale Avenue bridge will be reduced to two feet to allow room for construction work.
All closures, detours and traffic control changes are expected to be in place until the construction work shifts to the west side of Wooddale Avenue later this summer.
