Yesterday, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new interpretive center at Westwood Hills Nature Center. Attendees embraced the light rain to celebrate the beginning of construction, which will start in early May.
The new building will have increased program space, public gathering areas, room rental opportunities, special exhibits and improved accessibility and access. Completion of the project is expected in 2020.
One of the goals of the new interpretive center is to be zero energy. This design aspect aligns with the city’s Climate Action Plan, adopted in February 2018 by the St. Louis Park City Council.
