Membership and terms

  1. Members are appointed by the chief judge of the district court. 
  2. Individuals can't serve on the same commission as a member of their immediate family, registered domestic partner or members of the same household. Youth are exempt from this provision.
  3. Terms on the charter commission are staggered and generally are four years. Appointments may be made to fill portions of unexpired terms as needed. 

Conflicts of interest

No commissioner shall:

  • Enter into any contract with the city unless otherwise authorized by law.
  • Use their position to secure any special privilege or exemption for themselves or others.
  • Use their office or otherwise act in any manner which would give the appearance of or result in any impropriety or conflict of interest.
