Elected to a four-year term starting in 2024, Council Member Yolanda Farris began serving as the at large A council member in 2023, filling a vacancy resulting from At Large A Council Member Larry Kraft’s resignation. As a city council member, Farris would like to address issues such as affordable housing, connecting underprivileged communities to bring understanding and trust, and racial equality. Farris has lived in St. Louis Park since 2013, in the Texa-Tonka neighborhood.

For the past seven years, Farris has served as a state-certified peer recovery coach with Perspectives, Inc., a St. Louis Park-based residential support program for women in recovery and their children. She is a current member of the City of St. Louis Park Police Multicultural Advisory Committee.

Farris is also a certified nursing assistant at a St. Louis Park group home.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.
