Mayor Nadia Mohamed began her term as mayor in 2024. She previously served a four-year term as at large B council member, starting in 2020. Mohamed is a 17-year resident of St. Louis Park and currently lives in the Birchwood neighborhood.

As a four-year member of the St. Louis Park Multicultural Advisory Committee, Mohamed participated in strategic planning and implementation efforts to connect various communities within St. Louis Park. That work resulted in Mohamed being named a co-recipient of the St. Louis Park Human Rights Award in 2019 and helped her to understand what could be achieved through civic activity.

In 2024, Mohamed was the recipient of the Emerging Leader Award from the League of Minnesota Cities, presented in recognition and encouragement of elected and appointed officials who are early in their service to municipal government, have made meaningful contributions to their city and show promise for continuing service and leadership.

Mohamed earned a bachelor’s degree in human resources management from Metropolitan State University and is currently working on her master’s in educational leadership at St. Thomas University. Mohamed has spent her career in public service. She has worked as a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) specialist at a local public school and currently works at a state agency doing DEI work. In her spare time, she spends time with her family and loves to travel.
