Project updates
The first phase of construction, on the south parking lot, is underway. Construction on the east parking lot is expected in the summer of 2025
Construction hours are limited to the following:
- Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Saturdays, Sundays and holidays: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Project description
On May 6, 2024 St. Louis Park Public Schools was approved for conditional use permit (CUP) to move fill on the site at 6300 Walker St. in order to undertake site and building improvements at Central Community Center.
The project includes a full remodel of the building's lower level men’s and women’s locker rooms and added family locker rooms, added wheel chair lift from locker rooms to pool deck, mechanical pool systems upgrades, remodel of three gym spaces, added board room/training room, 55-square-foot delivery dock addition within existing footprint, east parking lot reconfiguration with added underground sand filtration chambers, and new site lighting and plantings, installation of underground iron enhanced sand filtration chambers beneath south parking lot, new mechanical systems and two new hot water boilers, removal of existing underground fuel tank, new lighting and technology
throughout interior remodeled spaces.
The site work to reconfigure the east and south parking areas and add underground sand filtration chambers requires a conditional use permit (CUP).
Public meetings
- March 6, 2024 – a public hearing was held at the planning commission meeting; the planning commission recommended approval of the CUP
