south-oak-pond-banner-photo-2South Oak Pond is scheduled for rehabilitation as a part of the city’s ongoing effort to reduce the amount of pollutants, such as phosphorus, being discharged into the streams and lakes of Minnesota.

The waters from South Oak Pond discharge into Minnehaha Creek and Lake Hiawatha, and the purpose of the project is to explore opportunities to help the city reduce the amount of total phosphorus loading from South Oak Pond watershed to these bodies of water.

The city has allocated $400,000 in stormwater fees for the project budget.

In addition, the city has applied for Clean Water Funding to expand the project scope and further increase total phosphorus reductions. The Clean Water Funding will be announced in December 2023, at which point the project scope will be refined.

The South Oak Pond project is tentatively scheduled for winter 2024-2025.
