Home MenuSpeed Limits
In 2021, the City of St. Louis Park adjusted speed limits on city streets. The city’s default speed limit is 20 miles per hour on local streets unless posted otherwise.
Slower is safer. Slower speed limits promote a mobility system that prioritizes walking first, then bicycling and transit, and then motor vehicle use. Lower speed limits are in-line with national trends toward lower urban speed limits to support safety. Lower traffic speeds reduce the likelihood of a crash and make all types of crashes less likely to lead to death or a life-changing injury.

Yard sign guidelines
- Each property may display one yard sign.
- Signs are to be displayed on private property and not within the public right of way. Signs cannot be attached to boulevard trees, street signs, utility boxes, or any other object in the public right of way. Signs cannot be placed in parks or on city grounds. General guidelines to place yard signs within private property lines are:
- If there is a public sidewalk along the street, place yard sign on the house side of the sidewalk.
- If there is no sidewalk along the street, place yard sign approximately 14 feet from the street curb.
- Take good care not to let yard signs become litter. Residents who choose to display signs are responsible for their maintenance and disposal.
