Below are the guidelines for the snowplow naming contest.

• Winning participant(s) must be a St. Louis Park resident(s).
• Please limit submissions to 40 characters or less.
• Submissions that include profanity or other inappropriate language will not be considered.
• Politically inspired names (including phrases, slogans or plays on politicians' names) will not be considered.
• The snowplow name can’t include your own name.
• Names or words protected by copyright or trademark will not be considered.
• If multiple people submit the same name, the person who submits the name first will be credited.
• City of St. Louis Park employees and family members are excluded from participating in the contest.
• By submitting your entry, you agree to allow the City of St. Louis Park to use your submitted entry in a public and official capacity.
• Name(s) of the winning participant(s) will be shared in a news release, on the city’s website and through GovDelivery, social media and other communications channels.
• If your snowplow name is selected as the winner, you will be notified by phone or email.
• Winner(s) will get to add their submitted name onto the snowplow, take a photo with the plow and crew, and ride in the snowplow around the city or get a ride to school (must be a St. Louis Park School).
• City staff reserves the right to make adjustments to name submissions.

Below is the contest timeline: 

• Friday, Sept. 13 – Friday, Oct. 4: Contest submission form is open.
• Monday, Oct. 7 – Friday, Oct. 18: Public works and communications staff narrow down submissions to their top 10 favorites.
• Monday, Oct. 21: The top 10 snowplow names are announced through the city website and social media channels.
• Monday, Oct. 21 – Friday, Nov. 1: Public voting takes place to choose the best of the top 10.
• Wednesday, Nov. 6: The winners will be notified, and arrangements will be made with public works staff to take a photo with and ride in the snowplow.
• Early December: The winning snowplow name will be revealed in the winter Park Perspective city newsletter this December, then shared on the city website and through GovDelivery emails and social media!
