Contact the Citizens Utility Board of Minnesota for a free utility bill consultation, where staff will review your energy bills and share ideas to help you save money or get renewable power.
Single-family, duplex, triplex and fourplex residents
Home Energy Squad
Sign up for a Home Energy Squad visit to understand your home’s energy use and discover opportunities for savings. The first step is a free virtual visit, followed by an in-home visit available at a discounted rate from the City of St. Louis Park. The team of trusted energy consultants will identify places your home is losing energy, install materials like LED lightbulbs to help you start saving and assist with next steps, such as finding contractors or rebates. In order to qualify for the city’s “Climate Champions for Homes” cost share program, you must receive or have received a Home Energy Squad “Planner” visit within the past 36 months.

Climate Champions (NEW)
Climate Champions is the city's energy efficiency assistance, cost share and recognition program. Residents receive a free or reduced cost whole-building energy assessment through the Home Energy Squad, assistance with navigating upgrades, partial reimbursement from the city for energy efficiency projects and recognition for their efforts.
Water efficiency rebates
Rebates for water saving devices, such as toilets, irrigation systems, and Energy Star washing machine and dishwashers, may qualify for rebates through the city. Be aware that funds are limited! Visit the water and sewer page for more information.
Electrify Everything MN
The cities of St. Louis Park, Edina, Eden Prairie and Minneapolis have teamed up to launch the Electrify Everything MN awareness and education campaign. The goal of this campaign is to connect residents with the information and resources they need to reduce home energy usage and make the switch to clean and renewable energy sources through electrification.
The Electrify Everything MN campaign will also be present at local events in each community to share information, answer questions and help residents act. Visit www.electrifyeverythingmn.org for more information and resources.
Electrify Everything MN will also be hosting a workshop for St. Louis Park residents on Thursday, November 21 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Rec Center. Apartment residents
Multi-Family Building Efficiency program
If you live in an apartment building with more than five units, encourage your property manager to sign up for a free whole-building energy audit through the Multi-Family Building Efficiency program from Xcel Energy and CenterPoint Energy. This program offers no-cost direct install of energy saving products, as well as bonus rebates of either 30% or 60%. Once properties receive an MFBE audit, they may be eligible for the Climate Champions cost share as well.
If your property manager chooses not to participate in that program, you can still apply to receive a free energy-saving kit through CenterPoint and Xcel Energy.

Building Operations Champion Cost Share Program
The city offers cost share funds for Building Operators Certification level 1 and multifamily training. Training helps increase energy efficiency, cut operating costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve safety.

Xcel Energy and CenterPoint Energy have a number of energy efficiency programs and rebates for businesses.

Multifamily properties with five units or more can qualify for a free whole-building energy assessment through the Multi-Family Building Efficiency Program through CenterPoint Energy and Xcel Energy. This program offers no-cost direct install of energy saving products such as LED bulbs, door sweeps and water-saving products, as well as bonus rebates of either 30% or 60% on qualifying projects. Once a property receives an MFBE audit, they may also qualify for additional funding through the Climate Champions cost share program.
Special assessment for energy improvements
Any commercial or residential properties with five or more units can qualify for a special assessment on energy improvements for their property. If approved, energy improvement costs can be assessed to your property and deferred for up to 10 years.
