If you are interested in serving as a trainee election worker, complete the trainee election worker application.

If you are selected as a trainee election worker, you will get an email notification and letter with the details of your precinct assignment. This letter will also contain information about available training sessions and how to sign up. Your precinct’s lead election worker will contact you to discuss your schedule, meals and other important details about your polling place.

Trainee election workers are required to attend training sessions that cover the equipment you will use on Election Day, the various duties you may be asked to perform, and all election laws and requirements that pertain to your job as an election worker. Each training session will last approximately two hours, and you will be paid for your attendance at training.

Elections staff will contact you with information on how to sign up for training. 

You will be required to attend one training session (two hours) on election laws and administrative procedures and one training on the use of electronic poll books in the precinct (two hours).

Please note we can't guarantee placement at a specific polling place or that you will be placed to work with certain people. Help is needed at all 12 precincts, and reasonable accommodations will be considered if related to accessibility needs.

A completed St. Louis Park payroll form is required to serve as a trainee election worker. If you apply through the staff liaison at a school, the forms will be provided to you. If you apply online, the forms will be sent to you after the city receives your completed application. The required forms include:

• Authorization for direct payroll deposit (bank account does not have to be your own)
• Student release form (if applicable)
