The results of the municipal general election held Nov. 2, 2021, are detailed below.

Results for the 2021 ISD 283 school board contest are available on the Secretary of State’s website. The school board contest was not counted using the ranked-choice method. The top three candidates with the most votes in this contest were elected.

Ward council member results

For races using the ranked-choice voting method, vote counts for first, second and third choices were available on election night (Nov. 2), but actual results were not tabulated until the following day. The city clerk’s office began tabulation on Nov. 3 and announced results below .

On Nov. 8, 2021, the city council canvassed the results of the 2021 municipal election and officially declared winners for the four (4) ward council member offices.

Note: The contests for the offices of wards 1, 3, and 4 council member only required a single round of counting.

Ranked-choice races

In the first round of counting a ranked-choice race, we total the first-choice votes and check whether any option received more votes than the threshold. The threshold for declaring a winner is 50% of total votes cast plus one.

Sue Budd received the most votes (581), but did not have more than the threshold (674) to be declared the winner.
