Vision St. Louis Park is a community-wide strategic plan aimed at creating a community so special that people will make a conscious choice to make St. Louis Park their lifelong home. It was created by people representing government, schools, businesses, community organizations, religious institutions and neighborhoods. Vision St. Louis Park represents the inspiration for many projects being implemented by the city, school district and chamber of commerce. How it started

In 2005 and 2006, eight Vision action teams, consisting of participants from throughout the community, worked for six months to put together goals, action steps, timelines and suggestions for additional partnerships.

With the involvement of more than 750 residents, workers, business people, organizations and agencies, the initiative has created a road map for the future of our city and fostered a strong community spirit.

Strategic directions

In 2007, the St. Louis Park City Council developed the Vision Strategic Directions 18-Month Guide and adopted four strategic directions to start carrying out Vision recommendations. The directions are as follows:

  • St. Louis Park is committed to being a connected and engaged community.
  • St. Louis Park is committed to being a leader in environmental stewardship. We will increase environmental consciousness and responsibility in all areas of city business.
  • St. Louis Park is committed to providing well-maintained and diverse housing options.
  • St. Louis Park is committed to promoting and integrating arts, culture and community aesthetics in all city initiatives, including implementation where appropriate.

Partners

All of this would not have been accomplished without the help and dedication of Vision St. Louis Park's five partners: City of St. Louis Park, St. Louis Park School DistrictPark NicolletTwinWest Chamber of Commerce and Children First. Funding for Vision St. Louis Park came from The McKnight Foundation, Park Nicollet Foundation and St. Louis Park Community Education.
